Overview

This project, part of the Large-Span Design Studio, focused on designing an expo centre near Delhi Airport, capable of hosting diverse, high-density events year-round. The brief emphasized expansive exhibition halls, flexible programmatic spaces, and large-span structural systems suited for urban-scale architecture. The goal was to understand spatial planning, circulation, and structural logic while creating impactful public interiors.

My key contributions included the designing and modeling of building skin and structural system in Rhino and Grasshopper, and producing the 3D renders and visualizations.

Form Development

Extruding the Site and creating a central open space

Identifying the different visual axes from the datum to the context

Identifying and carving out access and view points

Chamfered block edges create angled sightlines that enhance visual connectivity and evoke a subtle sense of mystery

Vision

The vision of this project was to create an expo center that unites visitors from across the world through diverse events, from auto expos to comic cons, while ensuring the building remains adaptable and actively used year-round. A key focus was integrating small artists and local entrepreneurs who often lack access to formal exhibition spaces. By giving them visibility and global exposure, the expo center transforms into a dynamic, ever-changing destination that remains lively throughout the year, supporting both large-scale events and grassroots creativity
